A favorite saying in our home… “When life gives you lemons, make lemonade”. I have been blessed to grow up in a family of amazingly resilient, strong, Latina women. My mother, grandmothers and my Tia’s always know how to bounce back and end up 2X stronger on the other side of whatever challenge, illness or stumbling blocks come their way.

Just weeks ago my mother ended up in the hospital after a routine procedure, she ended up staying in the hospital for four days and had the pleasure of receiving a blood transfusion.
She never wavered in her faith, her spirits remained high. It should have been our job, her friends and family, to reassure her and let her know everything would be OK but she was the one reassuring us, telling us she would be fine and not to worry.
Unfortunately just 3 weeks later, my Aunt, my mother’s sister, found out she had breast cancer. Thankfully it was caught early, surgery was performed this week to remove the tumor, her spirits are high, she is faithful and she is talking about going back to work.
RESILIENCE, STRENGTH, FAITH & PERSEVERANCE are the wonderful gifts these women pass on to me to help me be stronger, better and more faithful when I am met with challenges in life.

Moving to a different country made me stronger

Although I was born in the US, I had to go live in Colombia with my mother’s family after my parents divorced. It was a big adjustment that made me a lot stronger.
Traveled and lived in different countries has made me 2x stronger.
Being a mom has made me 2x stonger than I was before. Being an advocate for little people who don’t know what’s in their best interest and putting myself second or third or fourth or even fifth has made me 2x stronger. Battling cyclical depression and parenting through it has made me 2x stronger. Honestly, sometimes I wish I didn’t *have* to be 2x stronger, though.

I guess for me its been my two back surgeries. They didnt turn out quite the way they were supposed to, and will need one more. It has made me stronger …mentally! Weaker physically…but a much stronger person!

Hi Tiany,
I just had double bypass surgery in February of this year. It was a tough decision to go through with it, but I knew I wanted to be here for my four children, husband, other family, and friends. This was my first surgery, but I leaned on my faith in God the Father, and His loving Son, Jesus, which is now stronger, and my husband, who has made sure that I’ve gone to all of my appointments.
Oh, and I am also dealing with type II diabetes and other health issues, but I won’t let them stop me from living my life to the fullest. I am looking forward to healing and hopefully doing a 5K soon.
